The House Of (my) Dreams

Outsider art has fascinated me for a long time. I think I first came across the concept in the book Art Worlds by Howard Becker, which was required reading at uni (it explains art as a collective action of not only artists, but suppliers, dealers, consumers and critics as well). After having spent a semester in Boston as part of an exchange program, I went on a month long road trip through the east of the US...

Desk space available in my new studio!

There is a desk space available in my new studio! Unfortunately we had to leave our old place near London Fields because it was being turned into... you've guessed it: flats. But we found a new place in a converted warehouse near Hackney Downs and we all moved into two weeks ago. You'll be sharing with me and seven other illustrators...

Artist retreat on Achill Island, Ireland

When my mum came to visit me in London earlier this year we spent a few very enjoyable days drawing together. We both loved it so much, we said to each other 'we should do this more often!'. Desk space available in my studio!

A desk space has become available at my studio, right next to me! I'm on the third floor of The Printhouse, part of Bootstrap Company, a social enterprise founded in 1977 that supports charities and small creative businesses. Marbelous Wood

Things are slowly starting to come together at the new studio. The butt ugly carpet has been ripped out and my roomie and I have painted our space. Big question now is what to do with the bare wooden floor?? While looking online for some inspiration and (low budget) solutions I came across this beautiful floor by Pernille Snedker Hansen, a Danish designer...

StustustustuSTUDIO!!

I’ve signed the contract so it’s official: as of January 1st 2012 I’ll have a studio space in the Morgan Arcade in Cardiff! With 12 other illustrators, designers and artists I will move in on the second floor of this beautiful Victorian arcade. I’m very much looking forward to having an ‘office’ (which means home will be a home again) and ‘colleagues’!
