For the last two years my friends Louise Mason, Lisa Harker, Nick Scott and I have been running a collage club where we get together to cut and paste while sipping beer. We’ve dubbed our evening- and Sunday afternoon sessions ‘collage college’. So much of my work is now screen-based that it’s great to sit down and delve into a pile of old magazines, armed with a pair of scissors and a pritt stick! To see the others at work has been truly inspirational; they’re collage pro’s, so do check out their websites by clicking on the links above.
We now have the opportunity to show the fruits of our labour at the East London Printmakers, as part of the the Art Licks festival – “a festival that showcases the work of pioneering young artists, curators, galleries and project spaces in London“.
In my case, the fruits of my labour are quite literal, as I’ll be showing the food faces that I’ve been working on for a while.
Join us for an open collage college on Sunday 3 October, from 2 till 5pm. And for closing drinks on Thursday 8 October, from 6pm. We’ll have free beer, gin and postcards!
