I am beyond excited to announce that I will be taking my pub carpets to TATE (!) Liverpool for an installation on the evening of 12 April. To celebrate their current Op Art exhibition I’ll be creating visuals, using my collection of pub carpet pics, to accompany a (binaural) soundscape by Phil Channell (whose brilliant work you might have heard on the BBC podcast Death in Ice Valley).

Outsider art has fascinated me for a long time. I think I first came across the concept in the book Art Worlds by Howard Becker, which was required reading at uni (it explains art as a collective action of not only artists, but suppliers, dealers, consumers and critics as well). This Sunday 3 May my better half Casper is putting on another night of New Orleans jazz at one East London's most friendly pubs the Eleanor Arms. So I whipped up a little banner for his event. As part of the Dixie Nomands you will find Casper playing his double bass, as well as the tuba, Bodo Maier on trumpet, Jules Cowie on guitar and Cosimo Keita Cadore on drums...

It's crazy but true, my pub carpet collection got a mention in the December issue of KLM's inflight magazine Holland Herald!! Artisan Brewery is a microbrewery in Cardiff, makers of the exquisite Pipes Beer. I recently designed a poster for their upcoming Oktoberfest.

I'm very excited to have been invited to be an assistent tutor on the short course Enhanced Illustration - Pencil, Pen, Paint And Pixels at Central Saint Martins in London!

This rather stern looking owl is my entry for Inkygoodness' Beermat Character Competition. I didn't want to create a character that was übercute or comical, so I made a grumpy guy...

You could say I've been on gig spree: in 9 days I've seen about 14 bands, varying from jazz to indie, from hip hopto folk, from garage rock to gypsy. My spree kicked off with Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains. I had to battle the elements to get to this gig, but once inside the venue the atmosphere couldn't have been in greater contrast with the miserable weather outside.

Totally random but highly enjoyable evening in the backroom of The Royal Oak in Cardiff last Friday, where several bands performed for Big Scott's show on Cardiff Radio. My mate Matt from Quiet Marauder (who gave a brilliant performance themselves that night) joined these old geezers on percussion. One guy was sound asleep throughout their entire set haha.

Fresh from the press: the poster I designed for Cardiff based microbrewery Artisan Brewing to promote their monthly BAR OPEN event! Somewhere hidden away in the leafy neighborhood of Pontcanna is a garage is filled with an impressive array of kettles, pumps, pipes and hoses. This is where Simon brews his fine beers according to traditional recipes from all over the world.
